Jaw Crusher Toggle Plate Installation: Preparation and Checks
Jaw crusher toggle plate installation must follow the machine-specific procedure. Check the approved part, support surfaces, retention arrangement and post-installation condition before returning to service.
Preparation before installation
Stop and isolate the machine in accordance with the site procedure and the equipment manufacturer instructions. Secure supported or movable components as required before work starts.
Confirm the toggle plate part number, drawing revision, dimensions and material requirements. Inspect the plate, toggle seats and related parts for wear, cracks or distortion, and clean the relevant contact areas. Prepare the tools and handling equipment specified for the job.
Follow the actual support and retention design
The toggle plate transmits load between the moving-jaw assembly and its supporting arrangement. Its exact position, seating and retention method depend on the crusher design.
Do not assume that every plate is directly fastened to the jaw with a common set of bolts. Follow the machine instructions for fitting, tensioning, fastening and any clearances or lubrication requirements.
Where the toggle is part of a designed overload-protection arrangement, preserve the specified material and strength. An apparently stronger substitute can change the intended behaviour of that arrangement.
Check alignment and settings
Check that the approved contact surfaces are seated correctly and that the specified retention components are fitted. Use the required settings, tightening sequence and torque values for that machine; there is no universal bolt torque or installation gap for all jaw crushers.
Lubricate only the points and surfaces for which the equipment procedure calls for lubrication. If a part does not fit as specified, investigate the drawing, revision and mating components rather than forcing the assembly.
Inspection after installation
Complete the prescribed mechanical checks before restoring power. Where manual rotation or another functional check is required, use the approved method with the machine made safe for that check.
Return the machine to service using the specified commissioning procedure. Watch for abnormal movement, noise, vibration or loosening and stop for investigation where necessary.
